Job Description
The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) at Weber State University invites qualified applicants to apply for a nine-month faculty position that can be filled at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level depending on applicant qualifications.
Job Duties
The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses and laboratories in the campus and online degree programs. Additional responsibilities will include advising potential and current MLS students, mentoring MLS undergraduate research students, and participating in departmental outreach events.
Required Qualifications
Required:
- BS in MLS/CLS
- Current MT/MLS ASCP certification
- Two years of laboratory experience as a generalist or in a discipline specific clinical laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
- A master’s or doctoral degree in MLS/CLS or related field is preferred. If the candidate does not have a master’s degree, they must commit to a master’s program within two years of hiring and complete the degree within four years of starting the position.
- Two years of teaching at the college level.
- Experience in any of the following disciplines: molecular diagnostics, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, phlebotomy, or biostatistics.

Candidate should have excellent computer skills and be comfortable teaching in an online environment. Experience with word-processing, spreadsheets, and online education software is desirable.

The annual salary for this 9-month faculty position starts at $58,000 and may go up to $70,000 depending on candidate education and experience. The position comes with a generous benefits package.
