Key Responsibilities
- Champion a safe work environment and ensures adherence to safety policies
- Aligns department goals with business imperatives through short and long-term planning
- Ensures timely and quality repair for all site assets requiring maintenance support including rebuilds done offsite
- Directs the daily work order management processes to prioritize work identification, work approval, planning, scheduling, executing, and closing out of maintenance work orders
- Establishes operational discipline by following the Maintenance Manager daily standard work processes, monitors, measures, and audits department leaders to ensure accountability for adherence to daily standard work processes.
- Contributes to and adheres to annual site budgets
- Sets expectations for quality. This includes work (jobs are done safely and correctly), and housekeeping.
- Proactively monitors and manages costs
- Develops and maintains a long-term department plan
- Promotes and participates in continuous improvement initiatives
- Fosters team building and collaboration within and across departments
- Promotes and models open and honest communication
- Executes and enforces the Performance Management Process
- Proactively coaches and develops team members
- Role models the organization’s culture and core values
- Owns and enforces the Maintenance Execution Control Systems (ECS), including KPI’s
- Ensures environmental compliance for Mining Operations
- Enforces MSHA rules and regulations
- Manages staff to cover working crews through vacations and all other absences of Mine Maintenance Supervisors.
- Resource to help with MSHA and other regulatory agencies – through management, as needed
- Drives execution of the production schedule to optimize production, preventive maintenance activities, and workforce effectiveness
- Develops area budget, including capital spending and forecast
- Prioritizes department work and projects
- Manages department’s overtime and follows CBA when administering overtime.
- Collaborates with Production, Services and Technical Managers to proactively identify improvement opportunities and to optimize asset reliability
- Acts as resource coordinator for group (internal and external)
- Conducts a loss prevention program
- Oversees inspections of all pertinent areas
- Participates in and promotes problem-solving and continuous improvement in department
- Promotes development of procedures to support work practices
- Provides direction to salaried personnel
- Resolves employee conflicts and safety issues
- Participates in employee development through the supervisors and assists in coaching properly and guides on usage of the PMP process
- Provides direction to Maintenance Supervisors, in collaboration with Production for day-to-day operations of mine
- Reviews root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions
- Prepares work releases and assists in presentation of those documents for review.
- B.S. in Engineering or 5 years of maintenance experience; (10 years preferred)
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience required
- Reliability experience preferred
- Wyoming Mine Foreman Papers for Underground Trona strongly preferred
- Demonstrated leadership and ‘Drive for Results’ skills
- Demonstrated capability with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
