Project Accountant | Commercial General Contractor | Houston, TX
We're partnered with a mid-size commercial General Contractor with a diverse pipeline of works, known for an excellent team culture, low turnover, and strong backlog, to appoint their next Project Accountant in Houston.
The Role
You'll act as a true financial partner to the project teams, having full ownership of project financials from kickoff to closeout, ensuring accurate WIP reporting, seamless billing cycles, and strong subcontractor relationships.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing the day to day financial operations for multiple commercial projects.
- Partnering with PMs monthly to conduct thorough WIP reviews, analyze variances, and adjust forecasting.
- Preparing and submitting accurate monthly owner draws.
- Reviewing and processing subcontractor pay applications, tracking compliance, COI updates, and managing lien waivers.
- Monitoring project budgets, commitments, change orders, and contingency usage to prevent profit fade.
What You'll Bring
- 3 years of dedicated project accounting experience within a commercial general contractor.
- Deep understanding of Texas lien laws, conditional/unconditional waivers, and AIA progress billing.
- Strong proficiency with construction-specific ERP software.
- The confidence to hold Project Managers accountable and professionally resolve billing discrepancies with subcontractors.

- Starting base salary of $75,000 - $85,000 performance bonus.
