Duties
- Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of vessels within the fleet, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards are met.
- Coordinate with port authorities, contractors, and service providers to facilitate smooth port calls and cargo operations.
- Monitor vessel compliance with international maritime regulations, safety protocols, and environmental policies.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs to minimize vessel downtime.
- Manage budgets related to fleet maintenance, repairs, and port services while seeking cost-effective solutions.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for technical issues on vessels or port equipment, providing timely resolutions.
- Maintain detailed records of vessel inspections, repairs, certifications, and operational logs to ensure regulatory compliance.
Experience
- Proven experience in maritime fleet management or as a port engineer with a strong understanding of vessel operations.
- Knowledge of international maritime safety standards (SOLAS, MARPOL), classification societies, and regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders including port authorities, contractors, and crew members.
- Strong technical background in ship systems, propulsion machinery, electrical systems, or related fields.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with diverse teams across different locations.
- Certifications such as Marine Engineering License or equivalent are highly desirable.
