POSITION OVERVIEW – Logistics Specialist III
This role coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to production schedule. This role monitors and analyzes key operational and financial indexes, investigates root causes for discrepancies between actual performance and forecast, and reviews and distributes production, work, and shipment schedules while compiling reports on inventory levels, cost, and related metrics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and analyze key operational/financial indexes on a regular basis
- Find root causes for discrepancies between actual performance and forecast
- Analyze issues and prepare reports/recommendations as requested by team leader or head of department
- Examine documents, materials, and products, and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications
- Review documents such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine personnel and materials requirements and material priorities
- Record production data, including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and quality control measures
- Requisition and maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands
- Revise production schedules, when required, due to design changes, labor or material shortages, or other interruptions
- Distribute production schedules and work orders to departments
REQUIRED SKILLS
- High school diploma or GED required
- 5–7 years related experience required
- Previous experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and any other related accounting software; strong Excel skills required
- Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze costs related to manufacturing, labor, and materials
- Ability to accurately document and record customer/client information
- Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to shipping and production
- General knowledge of logistics and/or supply chain (preferred)
- Experience with SAP, WMS, or ERP systems (preferred)
