Equipment Technician

Position Summary

WATT Fuel Cell is looking for a hands-on Equipment Technician to support the testing and development of advanced Solid Oxide Fuel Cell systems. This role will set up and run lab tests, build and adjust test stands, document results, and help the engineering team maintain safe, organized, and repeatable testing processes. It is a strong opportunity for someone with mechanical or electrical aptitude who enjoys practical problem-solving and wants to grow in clean-energy technology.

Key Responsibilities

·   Set up, run, and monitor tests in accordance with approved procedures and safety requirements.

·   Assemble, build, modify, and adjust test stands, fixtures, workbenches, and basic laboratory setups.

·   Use a laptop to review test instructions, enter data, document results, and communicate status updates.

·   Perform basic electrical checks using a multimeter, including voltage, continuity, and troubleshooting support.

·   Conduct gas-leak checks using company-approved procedures, tools, and safety practices.

·   Record test conditions and results accurately; promptly report unusual readings, failures, leaks, equipment concerns, or safety issues.

·   Support the installation and connection of sensors, controls, tubing, wiring, and other test components as directed.

·   Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory areas, tools, test stands, and equipment.

·   Work closely with technicians, engineers, and supervisors to improve test setups, documentation, and repeatability.

·   Assist with basic equipment inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

·   Perform other laboratory and technical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

·   High school diploma or GED required; technical coursework or vocational training is a plus.

·   Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude with a willingness to learn fuel-cell testing equipment and procedures.

·   Comfort using a laptop for data entry, file access, digital instructions, and routine communication.

·   Basic familiarity with a multimeter or demonstrated ability and willingness to learn.

·   Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully and consistently.

·   Strong attention to detail when setting up tests, recording results, and inspecting equipment.

·   Clear communication skills and sound judgment when a result, leak check, equipment condition, or safety concern requires attention.

·   Dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a hands-on laboratory environment.

Preferred Attributes

·   Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, maintenance, repair, field service, or technical-support environment.

·   Experience building or modifying test stands, fixtures, mechanical assemblies, or workbenches.

·   Exposure to wiring, sensors, controls, electronics, or basic electrical troubleshooting.

·   Experience with plumbing, compressed gas, leak testing, pressure testing, or related systems.

·   Familiarity with spreadsheets, test logs, digital forms, and technical documentation.
