What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Middle School Sideline Cheer Coach position at Watervliet Public Schools?
Required Qualifications
- Sport-specific participation
- Coaching experience preferred
- CAP Level 1 completion preferred
- CPR / AED required or must obtain upon hire
Critical Skills
- Works well with athletes and middle school age students.
- Ability to speak clearly and audibly to various groups expressing ideas in a logical and forthright manner.
- Ability to quickly analyze a situation and provide prompt advice.
- Ability to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely, and helpful manner.
- Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with others.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Performance Responsibilities
- Work alongside all coaches in the cheer program.
- Create an engaging practice plan that aligns with the vision for the program.
- Enforce all rules of the MHSAA and WPS.
- Communicate in an appropriate and timely manner to students, parents, the athletic director, and other coaches.
- Maintain an accurate team roster at all times.
- Supervise practice sessions and maintain security of the locker room.
- Follow all injury and player safety protocols.
- Support the entire athletic program of the Watervliet Public School system.
- Attend all coaches' meetings.
- Assist with scouting for the varsity team if necessary.
