Job Summary: The Expo (Expeditor) is the vital link between the kitchen and the front of house. You are responsible for ensuring that all food orders are prepared and presented correctly, delivered to the right tables in a timely manner, and meet our quality standards. You will be a master multi-tasker, a clear communicator, and a crucial player in the smooth operation of our restaurant during service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Order Management:
- Read and understand all incoming food orders from the POS system.
- Communicate with kitchen staff to ensure orders are prepared accurately and in the correct sequence.
- Organize and prioritize orders as they are ready from the kitchen.
- Work with kitchen staff to ensure timely completion of orders.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect every dish for accuracy, proper presentation, and temperature before it leaves the kitchen.
- Ensure all garnishes and plating details are correct according to Waterfront Social's standards.
- Communicate any issues or discrepancies with the kitchen team immediately.
- Communication & Coordination:
- Act as the primary point of contact between the kitchen and the front-of-house staff (servers, hosts, managers).
- Clearly and loudly announce completed orders to the waiting service staff.
- Coordinate with servers to ensure food is picked up and delivered to guests promptly.
- Communicate any delays or special requests from the kitchen to the service team.
- Maintaining the Pass:
- Keep the pass (the area where food is staged for service) clean, organized, and stocked with necessary items (e.g., plates, silverware, napkins, condiments).
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an Expo, Expeditor, or in a fast-paced restaurant environment is preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a high-volume setting.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for quality food service.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
