Overview
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Construction Laborer to join our field team. This is an entry-level position within our organization, however, applicants must have previous experience in water utilities, underground utilities, construction, excavation, plumbing, or another closely related field.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with installing, repairing, and maintaining water mains and service lines
- Locate and expose underground water lines and other utilities
- Safely use hand tools and power tools
- Assist with repairing water leaks and responding to service interruptions
- Install and replace meters, valves, fittings, and related equipment
- Perform excavation, backfilling, cleanup, and site restoration
- Follow safety procedures and traffic-control requirements
- Work outdoors in varying weather and ground conditions
- Participate in the required on-call rotation
- Respond to after-hours and emergency calls
- Perform other water-system maintenance and construction duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in water utilities, underground utilities, construction, excavation, plumbing, or a closely related field
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Ability and willingness to participate in the required on-call rotation
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding work
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, mud, and other changing conditions
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely as part of a team
- Dependable attendance and reliable transportation to work
- Ability to pass all required pre-employment screenings
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience installing or repairing water mains and service lines
- Experience operating backhoes, excavators, skid steers, or similar construction equipment
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Knowledge of underground utility construction and safe excavation practices
- Water distribution license
A CDL and construction equipment experience are preferred but not required for consideration

We are looking for someone who has relevant construction or utility experience, is comfortable performing physical outdoor work, takes safety seriously, has prompt and regular attendance, and can be counted on to contribute to the team. The ideal candidate will be dependable, willing to learn, and ready to develop their skills in the water utility construction and maintenance. Candidates must be respectful and work well with others.
Schedule is 7am to 3:30pm, Monday-Friday. Participation in the on-call rotation, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays is required.
Pay: Depends on experience.
