Join our team as a Psychiatric Social Worker 4 with DSHS at our Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility where you will serve youth of ages 13 - 17 with high acuity behavior, substance use disorders, mental health, intellectual and developmental disabilities that are recognized as Co-occurring disorders. Provision of this facility is to address Co-occurring complex needs that are presenting clinical challenges to families, providers, programs, and systems that provide care to these individuals holistically.

This role reports to the Clinical Director and provides planning, organizing, and coordination of case work, training, as support of cross-agency collaboration of an interdisciplinary team. You'll have a major impact for developing, implementing, and monitoring performance standards, policies, and procedures.

The main objective of this position is to support youth clients with the right approach and person-centered treatment, supports and psychoeducation to help reduce/alleviate barriers.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.

Some Of What You'll Do

  • Serve as interdisciplinary team member consulting with supervisors, physicians, family, youth, interpreters, and other staff members in cooperative planning of program or case treatment and assure that the youth/family are at the center of youth patient planning.
  • Provide input to treatment teams including discussion of readiness for competency evaluations, treatment needs, readiness for rights, and understanding the connection between assessment and service delivery.
  • Coordinate, plan, and teach/train staff of effectively interview, determine program needs, quality and consistency of casework plans being carried out.
  • Assure appropriate and optimum use of the cross-agencies resources.
  • Support the effective communication throughout the departments. Maintain the highest standards of personal/professional and ethical conduct and support the State’s goal for a diverse workforce.
  • Ensure that professional staff understand their role within the facility by recognizing the importance and need for staff and families to understand the multimodal approach.

What We're Looking For

  • Have 2-4 years of working experience with intellectual and developmental disabilities population. Effectively complete required tasks that are essential for excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • The ability to work independently along with consulting with and on an interdisciplinary team is very important. Cognitive and emotional flexibility and creative problem-solving abilities are required.

Who should apply?

Those with a Master's degree from an approved school of social work

AND

Three years of experience in counseling mentally or emotionally disturbed people

Note: A degree in Social Work must be from an educational program accredited by the Counsel on Social Work Education.
