What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advocacy Coordinator position at Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics?
The Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics is seeking 1 -2 support staff to join our team to assist with Advocacy Day preparations and Legislative Session. The ideal candidate(s) will have excellent organizational and time-management skills, be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, and have experience managing calendars and scheduling appointments. In this role, staff will be responsible for scheduling appointments with legislators for attendees, coordinating with vendors, assisting with day-of coordination and other administrative duties as needed. Travel to Olympia for Advocacy Day and Pre-Advocacy Day activities January 22-23, 2026 is required.
We encourage applicants who are interested in as few as 10-15 hours per week or as many as 20-40 hours per week to apply. We will hire 1-2 temporary staff, depending on the most qualified candidate(s) and their weekly hourly capacity.
Part-Time Contract, Advocacy Coordinator.
10-40 hours/week from December 15, 2025 through March 20, 2026 Hourly Rate: $25.50/Hour
Assist WCAAP Operations Manager with Advocacy Day planning and execution including:
- Coordinate meetings between Washington state legislators and their WCAAP constituents (grouped by District) to occur during WCAAP's Advocacy Day in Olympia (January 23, 2026)
- Maintain a living process document, including outreach and follow-up communications, to finalize the Advocacy Day meeting schedule.
- Help with Advocacy Day "run of show" duties as assigned (ie., assist with check-in, prep printed materials, assist with tech set up, etc.)
- Other Duties as assigned
Work with WCAAP Legislative Committee Chairs to ensure a successful and well-organized session including but not limited to:
- Coordinate and attend Legislative Committee meetings
• Prepare meeting materials including slides, documents, etc.
• Take notes to ensure task completion.
- Work with WCAAP Operations Manager to recruit testimony for WCAAP priority items.
• Maintain records of all WCAAP coordinated testimony.
• Send out regular communications on status of WCAAP priority items.
- Other Administrative Duties as assigned.
