At Habitat for Humanity of Seattle-King & Kittitas Counties, one of the largest Habitat affiliates in the country, we’re looking for dynamic, solutions-oriented professionals who thrive in fast-paced environments, embrace challenges, and are dedicated to generating a lasting impact on affordable homeownership in the Puget Sound. Since 1986, we’ve created over 1,250 housing solutions for more than 3,000 people and successfully advocated for fair housing policies at the city, county, and state levels. As we set our sights on serving an additional 1,000 families by 2031, we need the right team members to help us get there.
Join us as our Advocacy & Grassroots Coordinator, where you'll work with local community advocates to help support our mission of affordable homeownership. Learn more about our work at www.habitatskc.org.
The Advocacy & Grassroots Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing Habitat for Humanity SKKC’s grassroots advocacy program, including recruiting and engaging community advocates, supporting community leaders, and coordinating advocacy campaigns. This position builds and maintains relationships with homeowners, homebuyers, volunteers, and community partners while supporting coalition engagement, legislative activities, and broader advocacy initiatives. The Advocacy & Grassroots Coordinator works collaboratively across departments to strengthen community involvement and advance the organization’s advocacy goals.
Your Impact:
Grassroots Program Management
- Recruit, seat, train, and support a network of community leaders across the service area.
- Identify entry points into communities and build relationships directly where existing structures are thin.
- Plan and host community gatherings that give leaders structured ways to engage neighbors and build advocacy capacity within their communities.
- Track leader engagement and campaign coverage; diagnose gaps and adjust support, messaging, or approach accordingly.
- Manage leader retention, recognition, and replacement over time.
Campaigns & Advocacy CRM
- Plan, build, run, and document advocacy campaigns in support of organizational priorities.
- Build campaign assets in the organization’s advocacy CRM, including actions, landing pages, forms, and message templates.
- Execute full-channel distribution for every campaign, including email, text, social media, Community Leader relay, and direct outreach.
- Own the organization’s advocacy CRM as the program’s system of record, including contacts, segments, campaigns, and action tracking.
- Maintain data hygiene and report regularly on people activated, actions generated, campaigns completed, and leader engagement.
- Document program processes in writing to ensure continuity across staff transitions.
Community Engagement
- Develop, nurture, and steward relationships with homeowners, homebuyers, and community partners across Habitat for Humanity SKKC’s service area, in coordination with the Homeowner Services team.
- Conduct listening sessions, community meetings, and one-on-one conversations to deepen engagement and surface advocacy-ready voices.
- Engage pipeline homebuyers through partnership activities as an on ramp to long-term advocacy participation.
- Collect stories and route them into campaign messaging, legislative testimony, and organizational communications.
- Recruit and prepare advocates to testify, including preparation, logistics, and accompaniment.
Advocacy Team Support & Coalition Engagement
- Support the Vice President of Advocacy and the Advocacy & Policy Manager on government affairs activities, including coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and tracking follow-up.
- Develop and steward relationships with external partners, such as urbanist groups, site volunteers, young professional networks, and coalition contacts, as recruitment and activation channels, in coordination with colleagues who hold primary relationships.
- Work across departments to support the execution of advocacy-focused communications and social media campaigns.
- Own advocate acquisition across site traffic, events, tabling, and partner relay channels.
- Coordinate campaign creative production with the Communications team, providing adequate lead time for each cycle.
- Serve as the primary staff lead for Habitat’s Legislative Day in Olympia, including logistics, advocate preparation, and follow-up.
