Description
The Department of Classics at Washington & Lee University invites applications for a one-year visiting position at the rank of assistant professor.
The successful candidate must be able to teach Latin at all levels, as well as Classics courses that reach a broad audience of non-majors. A teaching load of 2-3-1 will include four Latin language courses at the elementary and intermediate levels (2 sections of first-semester elementary Latin using Wheelock’s Latin; 2 sections of fourth-semester Latin reading Ovidian poetry) and two different Classics/Ancient Mediterranean culture courses. Our calendar consists of two 12-week terms and a 4-week May term where pedagogical innovation is encouraged and supported. Preference will be given to those candidates whose teaching and research complement current strengths of the department.

PhD by time of appointment.
Undergraduate Latin teaching experience at multiple levels.
