The Warwick Community School and Warwick School District is Massachusetts’s newest public school district. Nestled into the scenic woodlands, along the border of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont (map), our beautiful and innovative elementary school opened in the fall of 2023. The school sits on a 25-acre outdoor campus that features a vernal pool and cranberry bog. Mother foxes can be seen raising their cubs right outside the classroom windows. We have many school gardens and plan to build more to support both our curriculum and our lunch program.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Program Development & Oversight of bryt: To develop and continuously improve a high-functioning, school-based, intensive intervention providing clinical and behavioral support and skill development to students struggling with complex, often trauma-induced, behavioral and health challenges.
Social Work: To provide counseling, social skills instruction and social emotional support to individuals and groups.
Family Liaison Efforts: To promote family engagement & partnerships to foster connections to support positive student outcomes.
PreK Coordination: To oversee our prekindergarten program ensuring we are meeting all of our EEC obligations and assisting families to access our preschool’s resources.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
brytProgram Development & Oversight:
Develops and ensures effective implementation of a comprehensive plan integrating clinical, care coordination, family, and classroom support for each student participating in bryt.
Facilitates an effective entry process for each student, including an entry meeting with the student’s parent/caregiver during which respectful school/family partnership is prioritized and modeled.
Maintains an environment in the space(s) dedicated to bryt that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the development and interests of students.
Monitors progress of students who have transitioned out of BRYT.
Participates in professional development activities and works to integrate learning from those activities into their practice in order to continuously improve BRYT.
Social Work:
Collaborates with school leaders, counselors, teachers, instructional assistants, and external support organizations to develop and continuously improve a program dedicated to supporting students struggling with complex mental health/behavioral health challenges in functioning effectively in the regular classroom environment.
Provides 1:1 and/or small-group clinical intervention to participating students on a flexible, as-needed basis, employing clinical methods that are most appropriate for meeting the goals in each student’s plan.
Engages in consistent two-way communication with the families of participating students to keep them apprised of student progress and gather feedback and information to support student learning and well-being, including making home visits to families where appropriate.
Proactively communicates with educator colleagues and school administrators regarding the progress and status of each student participating in bryt or other mental health interventions, maintaining student confidentiality as appropriate.
Works closely with each participating student’s teacher(s), using consultative and coaching approaches as needed, to support integration of strategies successful for that student into the regular classroom setting.
Organizes and facilitates meetings with staff of collateral support organizations prior to and during students’ participation in bryt and other mental health interventions.
Where a gap in services needed to support a participating student’s success is identified, works with the student’s parent/caregiver(s) to ensure access to that service (via referral and all needed follow-through with both service providers and the family).
Collaborates with school adjustment counselor and principal to collaboratively maintain and track social emotional and mental health data.
Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as appropriate.
Provides tiered counseling services and supports & crisis intervention as needed and assigned by the Principal, School Adjustment Counselor or Director of Student Services.
Assists with mental health screening and follow up services.
Family Liaison
Serves as a family liaison and develops and maintains family engagement and support for the school community beginning in preK to foster a culture of communication and connection.
Supports families with wraparound services including connections to resources for families experiencing joblessness, homelessness and food insecurity.
Tracks attendance data, meets with families to address concerns and tracks progress related to interventions.
PreK Coordinator
Oversees the pre-kindergarten program, connecting with EEC, managing enrollment and working with families to access vouchers and other early childhood supports.
Write grants to support and build on our current programming.
General
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters- or higher-level training (MSW or other related field degree) and experience (minimum 3 years) working with young children and families struggling with complex challenges, including acute trauma responses and mental health challenges, causing significant dysregulation that regularly interferes with school functioning .
MA DESE School Adjustment Counselor certification, other related certification.
Demonstrated skill and experience setting clinical and behavioral goals and providing direct clinical supports and skill-building to young children in the school setting,
Demonstrated skill and experience working with parents/guardians from an assets/strengths-based perspective
Excellent case management skills, including collaborating with collateral/community-based mental health providers
Demonstrated effectiveness with development and continuous improvement of student support programming within a school environment
Demonstrated effectiveness providing functional support and consultation to teachers and instructional assistants
