Part Time Wilderness and Wellness P.E. Elementary School Teacher

The Warwick Community School and Warwick School District is Massachusetts’s newest public school district. Nestled into the scenic woodlands, along the border of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont (map), our beautiful and innovative elementary school sits on a 25-acre outdoor campus that features a vernal pool and cranberry bog. Mother foxes can be seen raising their cubs right outside the classroom windows. We have many school gardens and plan to build more to support both our curriculum and our lunch program. We are seeking elementary school teachers who are committed to place and project-based learning and to teaching students in and about nature. Teachers who are a great fit for our school will be committed to teaching in multi-age classrooms and using standards-aligned, evidence based, engaging curricula for deeper learning. We are also looking for teachers who will be excited to take our foundational curriculum, built on the science of reading and units from such organizations as the Buck Institute for Education: PBL Works, Antioch University Center for Place- Based Education and EL Education: Expeditionary Learning and build upon it, centering student inquiry. Our curriculum will also be both culturally responsive and personalized. WCS is seeking a qualified Physical Education Teacher Qualifications - Preferred Physical Education Teacher experienced teaching kindergarten through sixth grade students about varied sports, ideally from both the US and around the globe, as well as their rules and how to play fairly; Physical Education Teacher who will use their time with their students to build knowledge about the importance of physical activity for health and well-being; Physical Education Teacher with experience leading students on outdoor adventures and who will be eager to engage students in physical activities using the trails and outdoor spaces on our 25-acre woodland campus Physical Education Teacher who is eager to participate in activities to support the school such as overseeing recess or participating on nature outings. Salaries are competitive with local districts and commensurate with experience.
