Position Summary: The Bookkeeper is responsible for independently maintaining accurate, complete, and timely financial records. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role owns the execution of the general ledger, month-end close, and core accounting processes, ensuring the books are audit-ready and compliant with company policies and GAAP. This position is ideal for an experienced, self-sufficient accounting professional who enjoys hands-on ownership of the books and partners closely with leadership to support accurate financial reporting and operational decision-making.

Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as directed and reviewed by the Controller.
- Support month-end close tasks and support timely completion of close activities, including preparations of schedules, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies in coordination with the Controller.
- Develop and maintain advanced Excel tools (e.g., pivot tables, lookup-based schedules, templates) to improve reconciliation, reporting, and close efficiency.
- Maintain customer and vendor master data and accounting-related system data.
- Support audit, tax reporting, and compliance activities, including maintaining documentation and assisting with reconciliations.
- Partner with Staff Accountant on AP/AR duties as needed.
- Identify and communicate process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy within accounting workflows.
- Serve as a collaborative resource, supporting special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
About You: You are a dependable and detail-oriented accounting professional who values accuracy, consistency, and follow-through. You are comfortable working independently, taking ownership of your work, and communicate clearly when issues arise. You enjoy hands-on accounting work and contributing to a team that is focused on continuous improvement and building efficient accounting practices.
Qualifications:
- 6 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, with demonstrated responsibility for general ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required; Professional certification with substantial related experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.
- Strong practical understanding of GAAP and day-to-day accounting application.
- Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting processes.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and revenue accounting.
- Experience using ERP systems and accounting software; manufacturing or distribution environment is a strong plus.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Proficient with the full MS Suite.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Controller and accounting team.

Compensation: $63,000 – 74,000 Annual Salary Discretionary Annual Bonus
