Wampum Hardware Co (WHC) is seeking to hire a full-time Fleet Manager. We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Fleet Manager to oversee the management, compliance, and performance of a diverse fleet of 220 DOT and non-DOT vehicles, including straight trucks, tractors, trailers, pickups and both tracked and rubber tire drills, across multiple states. A larger majority of our fleet hauls Hazardous Material to support the drilling and blasting needs of our customers. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for the strategic and day-to-day operation of the company’s fleet, ensuring maximum uptime, safety, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance through proactive maintenance, telematics monitoring, and operational oversight.

ABOUT THE CAREER
Fleet Oversight & Maintenance
- Oversee all aspects of the company fleet, including trucks, trailers, and drill rigs.
- Develop, implement, and oversee a preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
- Coordinate with field operations, shop mechanics, and vendors for scheduled, unscheduled repairs, and build dates.
- Track and optimize fleet utilization to ensure efficient deployment across multiple states and job sites.
- Ability to inspect vehicles to determine issues and the fundamentals of a proper pre-trip.
Telematics & Technology Management
- Lead and manage the company’s telematics system (GPS, engine diagnostics, driver behavior, and utilization data).
- Analyze telematics data to improve driver performance and maintenance scheduling.
- Generate and present fleet performance reports to leadership and management.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all DOT-regulated vehicles meet Federal and State-specific regulatory requirements.
- Develop a system to maintain all licensing, registrations, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Oversee driver compliance with Hours of Service and company safety policies.
- Collaborate with Safety department to develop and enforce fleet-related safety and compliance training.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Manage fleet operating budgets, including fuel, maintenance, parts, and capital expenditures.
- Negotiate vendor contracts for trucks, parts, maintenance, and telematics services.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvement through data analysis and process optimization.
Strategic Planning
- Develop fleet replacement and acquisition plans based on lifecycle cost analysis and operational needs.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and sustainability initiatives to modernize and improve fleet performance.
- Serve as a point of contact for fleet audits, inspections, and external compliance reviews.
This is a Safety Sensitive position.
Qualifications:Requirements
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a drug test
- Obtain an ATF clearance within 90 days of employment
- Must pass a criminal background and motor vehicle records check
- 5 years of fleet management experience with a diverse fleet.
- Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, Hazmat and IFTA regulations.
- Proven experience managing a telematics platform (e.g., Lytx, Samsara, Geotab, Verizon Connect, or equivalent).
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Proficient with fleet management software, data analysis, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid CDL driver’s license
- Ability to travel regionally as needed.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with heavy equipment and specialty vehicles such as drills and explosive trucks.
