We are hiring a full-time Drill Mechanic to support our Drilling Crews. The Drilling Crews operate drills to prepare for blasting operations. You would be inspecting, maintaining, and repairing equipment and drills. WHAT YOU SHOULD PLAN ON
This position involves working both in a shop as well as outside work in all weather conditions. You will lift and carrying up to 60 pounds and frequently need to squat and bend.
As a new employee, you will complete a 24-hour MSHA Part-48 training course with one of our instructors, be given Hazmat training, and a possible road test. You will often complete a 10-hour OSHA course and be trained on various State requirements. We want you to know what you are doing.
Your normal day will start off by driving to our fixed facility. At the site you would troubleshoot and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on drills. You would conduct inspections of drills and help maintain some facility equipment. As necessary, you would recommend purchases of new equipment or outsource repairs after coordinating with management.
Remember, safety is always a priority, and, on occasions, you would need to work on a drill at a field location. You must be flexible and quick to respond when called to handle issues.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience as a mechanic. Major concentration should be on brakes, hydraulics, and engine accessories.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Physical ability to lift, up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Valid Class-A or Class-B CDL license and clean driving record preferred but not necessary.
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and background checks conducted by Wampum Hardware and the ATF.
- Have strong team-working skills.
- Ability to follow all of Wampum Hardware Co policies and procedures.
