The Sheet Metal Fabricator position is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods. Employees must consistently wear required PPE, including over-the-ankle safety boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection while on the shop floor. Work is performed indoors, in a typically loud environment, with regular proximity to moving mechanical parts, and may involve limited exposure to chemical hazards. Employees are expected to follow all safety protocols and maintain clean, hazard-free work areas to ensure a safe work environment for everyone. This position is classified as safety-sensitive.

Position Summary
The Sheet Metal Fabricator assists with the fabrication of sheet metal products in a controlled shop environment. Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with the fabrication and assembly of ductwork and sheet metal products using hand and power tools.
- Learn to read and interpret basic blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications.
- Measure, mark, and prepare sheet metal materials for cutting, forming, and assembly.
- Operate designated fabrication equipment and machinery as trained and authorized.
- Assist with the setup and operation of shears, brakes, lock-forming equipment, and other shop machinery.
- Perform basic metal finishing tasks including trimming, grinding, deburring, buffing, and cleaning fabricated products.
- Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications.
- Move materials and finished products using proper material-handling techniques and authorized equipment.
- Secure, wrap, stage, and prepare completed products for shipment and delivery.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Accurately record time worked, cost codes, and job numbers.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous construction, manufacturing, fabrication, vocational training, or shop experience preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license preferred and reliable transportation required.
- If operating company motorized equipment or vehicles, a valid driver's license is required and authorization/training must be completed.
- Basic math skills, including measuring and working with fractions and decimals.
- Ability to learn blueprint reading and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills and accept coaching.
- Ability to maintain acceptable attendance and work cooperatively with others.
- Honest, reliable, responsible, and dependable with a positive, safety-conscious attitude.
- Ability to adhere to all company safety policies and PPE requirements.
