- Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and system start-ups on commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units and associated systems
- Execute routine and advanced preventative maintenance in accordance with established maintenance procedures and safety standards
- Troubleshoot and configure advanced thermostats, DDC (Direct Digital Controls), and pneumatic control systems
- Provide detailed repair recommendations and technical guidance to Service Writers and customers
- Read and interpret complex specifications, blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schematics, and engineering documentation
- Utilize specialized HVAC tools and equipment, including reclaimers, torches, and vacuum pumps
- Perform brazing and advanced installation techniques
- Safely handle step and extension ladders up to 32 feet
- Work safely in elevated positions and confined spaces
- Safely troubleshoot and service systems with live voltages up to 600 volts
- Properly maintain and care for company-issued tools and equipment
- Communicate professionally with customers and internal staff on a daily basis
- Follow all company safety policies and report unsafe conditions
- Mentor apprentices and junior technicians, promoting skill development and best practices
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Valid driver’s license
- EPA Universal Certification required
- Maryland HVACR license required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of HVAC trade school and/or minimum of 10 years of HVAC service experience required
- Experience servicing complex HVAC systems, including:
- Packaged rooftop units up to 200 tons
- Gas heating systems and boilers
- Multizone systems up to 150 tons
- Strong knowledge of refrigerant systems, including evacuation, recharging, and mini-split servicing
- Experience installing, servicing, and commissioning VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) systems
- Skilled in pump installation and alignment
- Advanced knowledge of DDC and pneumatic control systems
- Strong troubleshooting and trade-related math skills
- Proficient with tablets, mobile devices, and computer-based service documentation systems
