Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized, friendly, and dependable Medical Receptionist to join our busy family practice. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in delivering excellent customer service while ensuring efficient front office operations. This position requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail. Experience with medical billing and insurance processes is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in patients in a courteous and professional manner
- Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and route messages appropriately
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
- Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and benefits
- Collect copays, balances, and process patient payments
- Assist with basic billing functions including claim follow-up, payment posting, and addressing patient billing questions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including faxes and emails
- Assist with patient flow to ensure timely appointments
- Communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff
- Manage front desk tasks such as scanning, filing, and data entry
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in a medical office required
- Medical billing experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and basic billing processes
- Proficiency in EMR systems and basic computer skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
