Job Summary
Pocock Family Dental is looking to fill the position of a front office Dental Receptionist. Must be able to multi task, make and receive phone calls, take payments, manage a dynamic schedule, use practice management software, and be the face of the practice and greet everyone with a smile in person and over the phone! Specifics will be discussed at the interview and training.
Experience and being bi-lingual with Spanish and English are preferred, but not required.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify patient information, and facilitate smooth check-in and check-out processes
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments using dental practice management software such as Epic or Meditech
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collect and process payments, including medical collections and insurance co-pays, utilizing medical billing procedures and knowledge of health insurance policies such as Medicare
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, providing excellent customer service and directing calls appropriately
- Review documentation for accuracy, update care plans, and assist with medical records filing and electronic health records (EHR) management
- Support clinical staff by coordinating patient intake, verifying insurance benefits, and handling administrative tasks related to medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10)
Skills
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in a bilingual capacity preferred
- Knowledge of health information management practices including medical records organization, documentation review, and clinical confidentiality policies
- Experience with medical coding (CPT coding, ICD-9/10) and billing processes related to healthcare services
- Ability to handle medical administrative support tasks such as filing, typing (including 10 key typing), data entry, and appointment scheduling efficiently
- Familiarity with health insurance procedures including Medicare claims processing and understanding of health insurance terminology
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in managing electronic health records (EHR), documentation review, and office procedures
