What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Engineer - Metals position at Walker Filtration Inc.?
Main Responsibilities:
- This position is an even mix of time in the home office and on-site work at some of the worlds most technologically advanced factories, teaching engineers and management about vacuum technology, which is a technically challenging topic.
- Promote company products by designing and proposing equipment upgrades solutions to Key Metals customers, focusing on industrial rare earth magnet market, VIM customers and other strategic metals customers, and general industrial markets.
- Work with systems liaison to create both retrofit and turn-key solutions in the metals market.
- Develop and implement a vision and a method to expand the level of business done in a metals as well as new opportunities for the Leybold products and services.
- Delight customers by providing outstanding technical support, product selection assistance.
- Attend trade shows, seminars and training sessions to keep informed of trends effecting customers, keep abreast of competitive products, services, and value-added activities.
- Responsible for maintaining company property (company car allowance, computer, office equipment, customer demo/loaner products, consignment stock, etc.) that is in his/her control, and or at his/her customer site
Education
* Engineering or science degree, or technical equivalent within the metals industry.
Knowledge / Skills
* Experience in on-site, customerfacing roles.
* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
* Ability to learn, understand, and clearly communicate technical information.
* Proven ability to develop tailored solutions by coordinating internal technical resources.
* Strong collaboration skills with the ability to engage others effectively.
* Ability to maintain concentration for extended periods.
* Strong taskswitching and prioritization abilities.
* Composure and professionalism under pressure or in emergency situations.
* Proficiency with PC applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Job locationThis remote role involves frequent travel-about 50%-including overnight and multi-day domestic and international trips. The employee may be exposed to mechanical parts, outdoor conditions, fumes, and occasional risks like electrical shock, vibration, and loud noise.
Physical requirements include regular sitting, standing, walking, stair climbing, and verbal communication. Occasional tasks include typing, dialing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching. Lifting up to 20 pounds may be required. Frequent computer use and visual acuity-including close, color, distance, depth perception, and focus adjustment-are essential.
