Summary
As a member of Wakefern Tech’s Print Shop, the Output Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all Print Shop printer and peripheral equipment including, but not limited to, Ricoh 4100 mainframe printers; Konica-Minolta black & white and color laser printers; binding equipment (spiral binders and hole punches); finishing equipment (such as the folder, perforator, cutter, and shrink wrapper); and document scanners. Under the direction of the Senior Output Operator(s) and Service Center supervisory team, the Output Operator will monitor the workload in assigned areas; coordinate steps required to complete all work (such as document and job preparation, generating print output, and assembling print output); and communicate issues impacting the Print Shop (such as document formatting and hardware problems). This position is also responsible for maintaining Print Shop supply levels as well as performing other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
- Facilitate mainframe printer output, including:
- Perform loading, unloading, and splicing of paper
- Monitor and maintain output queues to optimize efficiency
- Assemble, finish, and turn over completed print jobs for distribution
- Facilitate Konica-Minolta printer output, including:
- Perform loading and unloading of paper
- Monitor and maintain output queues to optimize efficiency
- Perform job prep to optimize output quality
- Assemble, finish, and turn over completed print jobs for distribution
- Perform printer output job assembly and finishing, including:
- Use of Duplo device for job finishing as applicable
- Folding, inserting, and perforating
- Spiral binding
- Cutting
- Padding
- Shrink wrapping
- Perform document prep and scanning, including:
- Remove staples
- Align all documents within a batch for proper orientation
- Scan documents and validate scan quality
- Affix batch identification stickers to scanned batches
- Prepare document batches for return to requestor
Additional Functions
- Maintain all Print Shop equipment in good working order
- Maintain a clean and safe working area
- Maintain Print Shop supply levels
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree or technical schooling preferred
- 0-3 years’ experience
- Flexibility with work schedule (ability to come in early, stay late, and work weekends as needed to support business needs)
- Knowledge of Print Shop printer and peripheral equipment a plus
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to sit and work in front of a computer monitor for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day
- Ability to use powered pallet jack and forklift
- Ability to work in the office 5 days a week (position is not eligible for hybrid work)
