Join our Wake County Social Services team at WakeMed as the Family & Children Medicaid Eligibility Team Lead (FCMA) and help ensure families in our community receive the support they depend on.
What You’ll Do
- Provide day‑to‑day supervisory coverage and guidance for a team of case managers and administrative staff
- Support management with operational needs and collaborate closely with WakeMed partners
- Conduct quality audits for Family & Children Medicaid categories
- Train and coach new and seasoned staff through group sessions and one‑on‑one instruction
- Assign and schedule work to maintain seamless operations
- Conduct local hearings for Family & Children Medicaid appeals
- Pull, evaluate, and communicate results from daily and monthly reports
- Monitor OnBase and provide technical support as needed
- Assist supervisors and contribute to policy alignment and compliance efforts
- Maintain vacant caseloads until positions are filled
You’ll excel in this role if you can work independently with minimal oversight, build strong working relationships with WakeMed personnel, and confidently guide others through changing processes, systems, and regulations.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain an annual flu vaccine and maintain required immunizations (unless exempt)
- Current CPR certification, or ability to obtain and maintain it
- Completion of required hospital learning modules annually

Required
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
- Associate's degree in Human Services or a related field
- Two years of job-related experience
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted
- Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume.
- Two (2) years or more experience working with NCFAST
- Two (2) years or more recent experience as a case manager in Family & Children's Medicaid
- Social Services experience as a Team Lead, Trainer or mentor
- Strong policy knowledge in Family and Children's Medicaid
- Ability to lead teams that must meet deadlines to assist patients applying for Medicaid at WakeMed Health & Hospitals
- Ability to maintain partnership with WakeMed
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong knowledge of NCFAST
