- Communicable Disease Surveillance: Monitor infectious disease trends, respond to outbreaks, and guide data‑driven decision‑making.
- Tuberculosis Prevention & Control: Oversee clinical operations and ensure evidence‑based care.
- Refugee Health Services: Support culturally responsive health assessments and care coordination.
- Disease Intervention Services: Lead a dedicated team working to reduce disease transmission and empower community members.
- Health Education & Outreach: Champion public health messaging that informs and protects all residents.
- Set program goals and move teams toward them with clarity, motivation, and accountability.
- Develop innovative strategies to strengthen infectious disease surveillance, prevention, and intervention efforts.
- Analyze epidemiological data to shape actionable insights and program improvements.
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Manage budgets, grants, contracts, and program performance metrics.
- Partner with healthcare providers, schools, long‑term care facilities, and cross‑agency leaders.
- Lead and support multidisciplinary teams, including:

Required
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
- Bachelor's degree
- Five years of job-related experience, including three years of supervisor experience
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

- NC Registered Nurse Licensure
- Technical expertise in communicable disease
- Strong managerial skills with demonstrated leadership experience
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- Knowledge of compliance with local, state, and federal communicable disease laws and regulations
- Communicable disease outbreak response knowledge
- Experience with the North Carolina Electronic Disease Surveillance System (or applicable disease registry)
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm during high stress situations and adapt as circumstances change
