Emergency Service Worker Statement
In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Key Responsibilities
- Direct the strategic planning and daily operations of the Communicable Disease Program
- Lead program areas including: Communicable disease surveillance, Tuberculosis control, Refugee health services, Disease Intervention services, and health and education outreach
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal public health regulations
- Analyze epidemiological data to identify trends and guide prevention and control strategies
- Develop and monitor program goals, performance metrics, and timelines
- Manage program budgets, grants, and contracts
- Collaborates with healthcare providers, schools, long-term care facilities, and government agencies
- Lead and support multidisciplinary teams of clinical and non-clinical staff including: Communicable Disease Surveillance Team, Tuberculosis and Refugee Health Clinic, Communicable Disease Quality Assurance Team, and Disease Intervention Specialists

Required
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
- Bachelor's degree
- Five years of job-related experience, including three years of supervisor experience
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

- Current NC Registered Nurse Licensure strongly preferred
- North Carolina Credentialed Public Health Nurse
- Technical expertise in communicable disease
- Strong managerial skills with demonstrated leadership experience
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- Knowledge of compliance with local, state, and federal communicable disease laws and regulations
- Communicable disease outbreak response knowledge
- Experience with the North Carolina Electronic Disease Surveillance System (or applicable disease registry)
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm during high stress situations and adapt as circumstances change
