The Underwriter II is responsible for evaluating commercial real estate and construction loan applications to enhance Bank performance and profitability.

Mostly sedentary office environment: may occasionally involve lifting files up to 20 lbs. Requires regular positive interaction with internal and external customers during business hours.

The Underwriter II is responsible for evaluating commercial real estate and construction loan applications to enhance Bank performance and profitability.
Essential Functions
- Verification: Examines provided financial info for accuracy and ensures loan files contain all required forms and regulatory disclosures.
- Risk Assessment: Analyzes data to assess credit risk, determining the strength of guarantors/borrowers and repayment sources.
- Dissemination: Shares financial information as part of the credit application process.
- Vendor Review: Reviews third-party reports and resolves any discrepancies with respective parties.
- Proposals: Prepares credit proposals and makes recommendations (approval or denial) to the Loan Committee or Board of Directors.
- Portfolio Monitoring: Conducts annual credit reviews, renews lines of credit, and monitors covenant compliance.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, or Real Estate Development. Specialized mortgage underwriting training is normally required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in underwriting commercial, construction, and owner-occupied mortgage loans with sizes exceeding $5MM. (Construction experience is strongly preferred).
- Skills:
- Proficient in underwriting and Microsoft Office.
- Strong reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills.
- Clear communication in English and strong interpersonal skills.
