Responsibilities
2nd Shift - Die Maintenance
Experience & Skills:
Perform fabrication, assembly, repair, and maintenance of precision tooling and progressive dies to ensure accurate, high-quality production. Support manufacturing operations by maintaining tools and dies, producing first-piece samples, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring safety and efficiency. Beneficiaries include production personnel, quality assurance teams, and end customers who rely on high-quality tooling and parts.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, repair, groom, and maintain progressive dies and machine tools into sub-units or complete units.
- Fabricate tooling to print tolerances using grinders, mills, lathes, and other tool room equipment.
- Interpret blueprints, design sketches, and die assemblies to ensure proper dimensions, tolerances, and alignment.
- Utilize inspection tools and metrology equipment (micrometer, caliper, optical comparator) to verify tooling and product accuracy.
- Perform die alignment checks and first-piece sample production on presses to meet customer specifications.
- Remove, install, and set up dies in presses, troubleshooting as needed to resolve production issues.
- Record and store die tooling efficiently; maintain accurate records of die maintenance and preventive maintenance in Die Log Book.
- Consult with management regarding modifications to tooling or dies and document any changes.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas using good housekeeping practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Manufacturing Manager, Die Maintenance Supervisor, or Stamped Products Supervisor.
2nd Shift - Die Maintenance
- Hours: 3:30 PM - 12:00 Midnight
- Rate: 10% shift premium
- Healthcare: 100% insurance premium coverage for employee, partner, and all children (Medical, Dental, Vision), valued at $5-6 per hour
- Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Experience & Skills:
- Completion of a state-approved apprenticeship or 5-10 years of experience with high-speed progressive dies.
- Ability to diagnose issues with progressive stamping dies.
- For Toolmakers (1st Shift): Detailed experience with grinding, tight-tolerance CNC work, tool mills, and tool & die making.
- Stamping die experience is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an apprenticeship or at least 5 years of experience in tool & die making; or one-year vocational training or 3 years of experience in die maintenance/stamping.
- Familiarity with concepts, practices, and procedures in tool fabrication, die maintenance, and stamping operations.
- Ability to perform basic math using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and metric/English conversions; basic understanding of algebra and geometry.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, set-up, operating, and maintenance instructions.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading with geometric tolerances and interpreting die assemblies, change-over, and detail prints.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to solve practical and mechanical problems.
- Ability to write routine correspondence and reports.
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
- Must successfully complete all training requirements as listed on the training matrix for this position.
- Must be available for scheduled work: normal 8-hour workdays, night shifts, and weekend work as necessary.
