Staff Attorney - Financial Services Litigation

Role Overview
The Staff Attorney will handle consumer financial services litigation matters, with a strong emphasis on mortgage-related disputes. This role offers flexibility in billable hours and work arrangements, depending on performance and business needs.
- Billable Hours:
- Standard: 1,850 hours
- Flexible option: 1,700-1,750 hours (with corresponding compensation adjustment)
- Career Track: Non-partnership track
- Practice Group: Financial Services Litigation
- Litigate consumer financial services cases on behalf of national and regional financial institutions
- Handle mortgage-related litigation matters
- Draft, file, and argue pleadings and motions (including dispositive motions) in federal and state courts
- Conduct discovery, including depositions and written discovery
- Manage cases from inception through resolution, including strategy development, client communication, and settlement discussions
- Assist in defending class actions involving federal and state consumer lending laws and credit practices
- Conduct legal research and factual investigations to support litigation strategy
- Collaborate with a team managing large-scale litigation portfolios
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Admission to the Michigan Bar (required)
- 2 years of consumer financial services litigation experience, including mortgage-related litigation
- Strong litigation skills, including motion practice and discovery
- Working familiarity with both federal and state courts
- Ability to manage multiple cases independently while collaborating with a team
- Hybrid in-office schedule; fully remote arrangements may be considered after onboarding for strong performers
- Requests for reduced billable hour requirements may be considered
- This role is dedicated to the Financial Services team and is not on the partnership track
