This is a hands-on Senior Engineer/Project Manager position and the candidate must have working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems. Additionally, the candidate shall possess a combination of technical expertise and good communication skills.
Essential Job Functions - Operational Duties
- Lead a team of engineers primarily responsible for performing energy audits, retro commissioning and MEP design projects.
- Review and lead development of detailed design drawings in Auto CAD MEP and/or Revit.
- Perform field surveys and measurements, as required, for the preparation of MEP design drawings, development of energy audit and retro-commissioning reports.
- Review and perform engineering analyses/energy savings calculations utilizing Microsoft Excel and eQuest energy modeling software to produce tangible deliverables.
- Lead development of flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment schedules and detailed plans and specifications.
- Coordinate design drawings with other trades such as architectural, civil, structural, electrical and any other building trades utilized on the projects.
- Perform and lead construction administration duties including review of shop drawings, submittals, responding to RFIs, and help to resolve field issues during construction.
- Perform quality reviews of mechanical designs, provide mark-ups and mentor junior engineers.
- Use engineering and design computer software to complete assigned work (i.e. Autodesk Revit MEP & AutoCAD)
- Mentor junior engineers to perform load calculations, equipment selection and sizing for design of HVAC equipment and systems.
- Perform project management functions including managing multiple projects in tandem in terms of project scope, schedule, budget and client management.
- Assist with the development of proposals, RFP responses and other business development tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on the business requirements.
The ideal candidate will satisfy the following qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
- 7-10 years of experience in MEP industry.
- Responsible for the mechanical design of building infrastructure and energy conservation projects with a focus on hydronic systems, cooling towers, steam boilers, built-up AHUs, and building automation control systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD MEP. Revit experience a plus.
- Experience with energy modeling techniques and working knowledge of energy modeling software eQuest and Trane Trace.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Must be able to travel to job sites independently.
- Self-starting nature with the ability to see tasks through completion while meeting project budgets and deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to stay focused and organized.
- Good customer service skills.
