The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical systems expertise, a solid understanding of energy modeling and financial analysis, and the ability to lead complex projects from concept through proposal submission.

About The Role
The Senior Energy Engineer plays a key role in the development, analysis, and implementation of comprehensive energy efficiency and sustainability projects. This position is responsible for performing and managing detailed energy audits, developing accurate proposals, and ensuring technical excellence across all aspects of energy engineering. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical systems expertise, a solid understanding of energy modeling and financial analysis, and the ability to lead complex projects from concept through proposal submission.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of mechanical/HVAC systems, electrical systems, renewable technologies, water systems, and building envelope technologies.
- Participate in and manage partners performing Level I, II, and III energy audits of MUSH facilities across Long Island and the greater NYC area.
- Perform detailed energy calculations and review calculations completed by partners.
- Understand utility rate tariffs.
- Understand local utility rebates and federal incentives for energy-efficient upgrades.
- Apply Fit, Form, and Function knowledge.
- Conduct value engineering of products or manufacturers and evaluate optimal solutions to improve project competitiveness.
- Verify accuracy of the scope of work.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest technologies and products in the market.
- Lead the preparation of full quotes/proposals/RFP responses with accuracy and thoroughness.
- Understand varying levels of labor complexity (difficult, moderate, easy).
- Understand both direct and indirect costs.
- Understand and analyze the financials associated with comprehensive energy efficiency proposals.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, wants, and budget requirements.
- Develop trusted advisor relationships with clients.
- Attend RFP walk-throughs as required.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and pivot tables.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience reading plans, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working with school districts, EPCs, and NYSED is highly preferred.
- Energy modelling experience is highly preferred.
- Professional certifications such as PE and/or CEM are preferred.
