Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in heavy civil construction to lead and oversee projects from planning through completion.

This role is responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, safety, and stakeholder communication while ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, financial acumen, and technical expertise to drive successful project execution.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead and direct project teams through effective communication, coordination, and follow-up to achieve defined project goals.
  • Ensure project scope, schedule, and budget are clearly defined, understood, and maintained.
  • Develop and enforce project procedures aligned with contractual requirements.
  • Establish and oversee project controls, schedules, and budgets.

Planning & Cost Management

  • Collaborate with management and estimating teams to develop site logistics and phasing plans.
  • Ensure general conditions and trade budgets reflect appropriate construction timelines and methodologies.
  • Track project milestones and manage cost control to maintain budget compliance.
  • Negotiate and prepare subcontractor scopes of work and subcontracts to prevent scope gaps.

Safety & Compliance

  • Partner with Superintendents and the Safety Manager to develop and enforce the Project-Specific Safety Plan.
  • Ensure compliance with owner contract terms and applicable legal codes and construction standards.
  • Maintain adherence to industry best practices and quality standards.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Ensure timely processing of RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement logs, and look-ahead schedules.
  • Facilitate on-time or early delivery of project components and trades in the planned sequence.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the project in meetings, reviews, and formal correspondence.

Team Development

  • Provide mentoring and training to entry- and mid-level engineers to support professional development.
  • Act as the key communication link between executive leadership, stakeholders, and field teams.

✅ Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction project management.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Strong expertise in scheduling, procurement, budget control, financial reporting, and client relationship management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook; Access preferred).
  • Experience with estimating, scheduling, and project management software is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving capabilities.
