What are the responsibilities and job description for the Offset Pressman position at W3Global?
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and run Komori sheetfed offset presses (e.g., Lithrone series)
- Read and interpret job tickets, layouts, and production specs
- Maintain accurate color density, gray balance, and registration throughout press runs
- Perform color matching using densitometers and/or spectrophotometers
- Adjust press settings for a variety of substrates, including paperboard and folding carton stock
- Monitor ink/water balance and press performance to optimize quality and speed
- Troubleshoot mechanical and print quality issues to minimize downtime
- Perform routine maintenance and keep equipment in optimal condition
- Work closely with prepress and finishing departments to ensure workflow efficiency
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pressroom
- 3 years of experience operating Komori sheetfed presses (Lithrone preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Komori console systems and automation features
- Experience with color control systems (PDC or equivalent)
- Understanding of ink systems, coatings, and substrate behavior
- Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred)
- Experience with UV printing and UV/aqueous coating systems
- Familiarity with G7 color calibration and process control
- Folding carton experience including print-to-die registration awareness
- Knowledge of downstream processes such as die cutting and gluing
- Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment
