Key Responsibilities
Fire Extinguisher Service
- Perform installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of portable fire extinguishers in accordance with applicable safety standards
- Conduct hydrostatic testing and recharge extinguishers as required
- Install mounting hardware, cabinets, and required safety signage
- Identify compliance issues and communicate recommended corrective actions
- Install and service emergency lighting units and exit signage
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure proper functionality and code compliance
- Identify electrical or system deficiencies and recommend repairs
- Complete accurate service documentation and inspection reports for regulatory review
- Recognize and document code-related deficiencies, providing clear explanations to customers
- Stay up to date with jurisdictional requirements across the service territory
- Manage and execute a daily service route across commercial client sites
- Maintain a professional presence when interacting with customers and facility personnel
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support urgent service needs
- Hands-on, on-the-job training in fire extinguisher service and inspection
- Instruction on relevant safety standards and compliance requirements
- Training on emergency lighting systems and diagnostics
- Use of digital tools for reporting and documentation
- Support for obtaining industry certifications (ICC, NAFED, or equivalent)
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and grow within the industry
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and equipment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities
- Effective communication skills in customer-facing environments
- Ability to work independently after completing training
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel locally
- Prior experience in fire protection or a related trade is a plus, but not required
- Hourly compensation based on experience, with entry-level starting rates available
