Job Title: Junior/Mid-Level Estimator for Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Hillsborough, NJ
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior/Mid-Level Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy civil construction and will assist in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of projects. The candidate should have an intermediate level of understanding of the construction industry and be eager to develop their skills in public and private project estimation.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in reviewing project plans, specifications, and other documents to support the development of comprehensive cost estimates.
Collaborate with senior estimators to examine plans and specifications, identifying inconsistencies or errors.
Assist in creating RFIs and performing Take-Offs under the guidance of senior estimators.
Support the preparation of detailed cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
Conduct site visits and assessments, as needed, to gather essential information for estimations.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align on project scope and budget.
Aid in preparing bid packages for subcontractors and vendors.
Participate in analyzing historical data, labor productivity, and material costs to improve the accuracy of estimates.
Assist in soliciting and reviewing bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, construction methods, and cost data.
Ensure all estimates comply with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
2-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in heavy civil construction.
Intermediate level of understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices.
Proficient in using estimating software and tools such as Bid2Win, Bluebeam, AGTEK, PlanSwift, or similar.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
