What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extrusion Operator position at W3Global?
Summary: Operates various equipment and performs duties related to the goals of the Extrusion department. All the following functions will be performed to maintain optimum cycle times, production rates and safety standards consistent with company's policies.
This Operator will operate and monitor Extrusion Machines at a high level of Quality. This Operator will assist with mold changes, material changes, set up, and make machine changes as required to produce a good part. This includes working and assisting Level 2 and 3 operators in their setting up and starting up lines. This operator will set up and operate the extruder using a prior run sheet utilizing standard extrusion practices. This includes operating multiple machines at once.
This operator must have a demonstrated working knowledge of hand and power tools and measurement equipment.
Below Are The Responsibilities Associated With This Role

Below Are The Responsibilities Associated With This Role
- Load, Unload and clean dryer.
- Load, Unload and clean extruder hopper.
- Monitor process conditions on extruder
- Operate cutting equipment to cut stock shapes to final size
- Operate scales and micrometers/calipers to measure final product.
- Record finished product into QPS (ERP System).
- In process Inventory and Material handling.
- Clean molds using pyrolysis oven, grinders and sand blaster equipment.
- Perform assembly of mold components, as needed.
- Clean extruder barrel, screw and other extrusion parts.
- Record all Information on forms and files as required.
- Package and label parts as required.
- Transport work in process product to within the Departments and to the warehouses as necessary.
- Perform miscellaneous duties in the Extrusion area as assigned.
- Ability to focus efforts on achieving company and department objectives by participating in departmental teams and at communication meetings. Must have the ability to perform department tasks in a team oriented environment
- Ability to frequently work in positions requiring Pushing, Pulling, Twisting, Grasping, Climbing Ladders, Stooping, Kneeling and Heights.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as, Safety Shoes and Safety Glasses.
- Must have ability to Operate Material Handling Devices (fork truck, hand truck, etc.)
- Maintain good housekeeping in work areas.
- Ability to occasionally carry up to 55 pounds without the use of mechanical lifting devices.
- Must have the ability to read, understand and perform work instructions in all operations
- TPM, monitor and add oil and grease as necessary to maintain appropriate levels. Attach plugs to heater bands and thermocouples. Clean and replace designated process filters as required. Operators must fulfill training requirements before doings these tasks.
- In order to progress to the Level 2 or 3 position this operator must have progressed to and worked as a Level 1 operator for at least 12 months prior and must demonstrate ability to fully understand all above job responsibilities. This operator will be proficient in Extrusion techniques and processes and be able to successfully run all Extrusion equipment efficiently.
