We've partnered with a growing East Tennessee law firm that is actively hiring an Experienced Family Law Attorney to join its team in Clinton, TN. This is an opportunity for an Attorney who is confident managing family-law matters independently and wants meaningful ownership over their practice. The firm is looking for someone who can step in, manage a substantial family-law caseload, represent clients in court, and operate with minimal supervision. For the right Attorney, there is also an opportunity to help shape and grow the firm's family-law division as the practice expands. As a Family Law Attorney, you will handle a broad range of domestic-relations matters from initial client consultation through resolution. Your practice will include matters involving: Divorce & contested divorce, Child custody & parenting-time disputes, Alimony/spousal support, Related domestic-relations litigation, Property division. You will be expected to take ownership of your matters, develop case strategy, communicate directly with clients, and represent clients in hearings, negotiations, mediations and trials. The role offers considerable autonomy and is particularly well suited to an Attorney who is already comfortable managing family-law matters independently rather than looking for a highly structured mentorship environment.

What You'll Do
- Manage an independent caseload of approximately 25-50 assigned family-law matters, depending on experience and case mix
- Meet with clients, assess legal issues and develop case strategy
- Handle family-law matters from intake through resolution
- Draft and argue motions, pleadings and other litigation documents
- Prepare for and conduct hearings and trials
- Prepare for, take and defend depositions where appropriate
- Conduct legal research and analyse complex family-law issues
- Prepare and respond to discovery
- Negotiate settlements and agreements
- Advise and counsel clients throughout their matters
- Maintain timely, professional communication with clients
- Manage deadlines, case files and competing priorities
- Work collaboratively with Attorneys and support staff
- Maintain the firm's standards of professional, ethical and client-focused advocacy
- A J.D. from an accredited law school
- An active Tennessee law licence in good standing, or the ability to obtain Tennessee admission within a reasonable timeframe
- Demonstrated experience handling family-law litigation
- Strong courtroom advocacy experience
- Experience independently managing family-law matters
- Experience drafting and arguing motions
- Experience with discovery and depositions
- Strong negotiation and settlement skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Strong client counselling and conflict-resolution skills
- The ability to manage a substantial caseload without requiring day-to-day mentorship
- Sound judgment, professionalism and strong organisational skills
Compensation & Structure
- Base Salary: $75,000-$120,000, depending on experience and overall value brought to the practice.
- Individual and/or firm-based performance bonuses. Potential commission opportunities.
- The firm is open to discussing either: a 30 billable-hours-per-week structure, and/or a more caseload-based arrangement, depending on the Attorney's preferred billing model and practice structure.
- Estimated caseload of 25-50 assigned matters.
- This is more than a straightforward individual-contributor position. The firm is expanding its family-law practice and is looking for an Attorney who could eventually take a meaningful role in developing and managing the family-law division. Salary : $75,000 - $120,000
