Reports to: Mechanic Shop Manager

Position Summary:
The Heavy Equipment/Diesel Truck Mechanic will perform a variety of services, diagnostic testing, troubleshooting and minor to complex repairs, on a variety of heavy equipment as well as gas and diesel engines.
Essential Functions:
- Perform Class 7 inspections on tractor trailer and light duty trucks.
- Diagnose and repair vehicles, trucks, heavy equipment, and accessories.
- Complete paperwork associated with repairs and inspections.
- Clean workstation and mechanic shop on a weekly basis
- Completes misc. projects assigned by the Mechanic Shop Manager
- Ensures all tools are used and treated in a professional manor
- Enforces and abides by all Tomko policies and procedures
- Follows all safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or comparable experience
- Knowledge of diesel engine components
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified above
- CDL, Class A License is a plus, Class B License is required
- Excellent knowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs is required
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Attention to detail is required
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment:
This position works in a typical mechanic shop environment. Safe working atmosphere and conditions, which at times may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Effort:
Requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching for extended periods of time.
Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Hours would be discussed upon hire. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
