The Facility Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the United Felts/Vortex safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment. This role will work closely with management and employees to promote a culture of safety, reduce workplace incidents, and ensure compliance with OSHA, local, and federal safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facility Safety Program Management:

- Develop and implement safety policies, programs, and procedures in compliance with Vortex, OSHA and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee incident investigation processes, ensuring timely reporting and root cause analysis.
- Lead safety meetings and training sessions to promote awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Consistently monitoring the production floor to proactively identify potential safety hazards and making recommendations as needed.
- Compliance & Regulations:

- Ensure the manufacturing facility is compliant with federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations.
- Stay updated on new and existing safety regulations and adjust safety programs as necessary.
- Maintain proper documentation for safety inspections, accident reports, and corrective actions.
- Training & Development:

- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, equipment safety, emergency preparedness, and hazard communication.
- Collaborate with supervisors and department heads to ensure employees receive role-specific safety training.
- Incident Management:

- Lead and participate in investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, or near misses.
- Ensure appropriate follow-up actions are taken to prevent recurrence.
- Track and report key safety performance indicators (KPIs), such as incident rates and lost workdays.
- Safety Culture Promotion:

- Act as a safety champion, promoting a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
- Facilitate employee engagement and feedback regarding safety improvements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for all safety-related matters and provide guidance to staff.
- Emergency Preparedness:

- Develop and implement emergency response procedures for situations like fires, chemical spills, and natural disasters.
- Coordinate emergency drills and ensure that all staff understand their roles during emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety management role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience managing OSHA compliance and other relevant regulations.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessment techniques, and safety auditing.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- The ability to influence and drive changes in a safety culture.
- Proficiency in incident investigation and safety software/tools.

Work Environment:
- Primarily based in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and other shop-floor conditions.
- Must be available for shift work, overtime, or on-call as required to respond to safety incidents.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday but could include shift work, weekends, evenings and/or holidays - flexibility is required as job duties demand.
