Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
To provide leadership in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating high school programs designed to meet the needs of the students throughout the district.

To provide leadership in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating high school programs designed to meet the needs of the students throughout the district.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To coordinate the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of relevant high school, career and technical education, alternative education and adult instructional programs.
- To meet on a regular basis with grade level teams for the purpose of curriculum development, refinement, and implementation.
- To produce curriculum bulletins, guides or directories related to the districtwide instructional programs and distribute to those impacted.
- To make recommendations regarding the budget for high school, career and technical education, alternative education and adult instructional programs.
- To improve present instructional programs in cooperation with principals, staff and teachers.
- To assist high school textbook committees in cooperation with principals in textbook selection and adoption.
- To provide leadership for the development and implementation of district high school, career and technical education, alternative education and adult curriculum objectives.
- To serve as a program consultant to high school, career and technical, alternative and adult education personnel.
- To maintain a close working relationship with school administrators and school resource specialist to ensure information exchange, coordination of efforts, and general support for the decision-making process.
- To work with appropriate personnel in the planning, modification, and construction of school facilities.
- To observe and evaluate high school teachers as requested by principals.
- To assist in the development of administrative guidelines for high school education programs.
- To make recommendations regarding high school staff development activities.
- To assist in the development of administrative guidelines for high school, career and technical education, alternative education and adult education.
- To supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals, and make recommendations for appropriate employment action.
- To prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
- To assist in the preparation of the instructional services budget.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Master's Degree or higher required with certification in Educational Administration/Supervision/Educational Leadership
- Five (5) years of educational leadership management experience. Experience as a school principal required. Preferred experience in improving student achievement.
- Florida Professional Educator Certificate. Educational Leadership, School Principal or Administration/Supervision required.
- Makes decisions and final recommendations which routinely affect the activities of an entire department/facility/school. Position duties may include responsibility for developing strategic plans for one or more facilities/schools.
- Highly Complex: Work is broad in scope covering one or more complicated areas. Policy, procedure, or precedent is typically created by this position. A high degree of analytic ability and inductive thinking is required to devise new, non-standard approaches to highly intricate, technically complex problems.
- Highly Complex: Supervision is available to review established departmental, facility or school-wide objectives. Independent judgment is required to recommend departmental, facility or school-wide objectives, evaluate new approaches to problem solving and assess changing facts or conditions.
- Requires regular contact with internal and external persons of importance and influence. Involving considerable tact, discretion, and persuasion in gaining the cooperation of others. Requires the handling of delicate relationships and complex situations.
- Responsible for making recommendations within one department in the areas of compensation, staff selection, disciplinary action, complaints, staff performance appraisal, and similar supervisory duties. Plans, assigns andevaluates the work of subordinates for effective operation and results of the unit.
- Four to Twelve Months: Plan events that will occur during the year, and have some effect on the department's annual expenditures, and/ or revenues.
- Advanced Professional Skills: The professional theory and practice of the level above but applied at the advanced level of a "seasoned" professional. Requires extensive knowledge of their professional disciplines and a working knowledge of related fields. Understands information in several unrelated professional disciplines.
- Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or physical strain. Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements.
