Position Details:
- Type: Full-time, onsite
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7 AM – 4 PM
- Location: Various in Upstate, New York
- Compensation: $85,000-$120,000, depending on experience

What You’ll Do:
The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and specifications.
The Superintendent will be the key liaison between the project management team and field crews, and coordinate with subcontractors and vendors. They will ensure the timely execution of project tasks within budget while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
This role involves firsthand supervision, effective problem solving and fostering a productive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise field staff in the day-to-day execution of construction projects including determining the means and methods of construction and workforce requirements.
- Coordinate assigned work of different trades, subcontractors, vendors and other external partners.
- Maintain liaison with the Owner/Architect/Engineer and Project Management to ensure work complies with the contract documents and job schedule.
- Resolve construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.)
- Assist Project Manager with job schedule, material procurement, delivery and start dates for vendors and/or subcontractors.
- Assist in creating and maintaining project budgets, estimates and forecasts.
- Manage resources (labor, equipment, materials, tools and other costs) against project budget.
- Maintain project and personnel documentation.
- Manage and ensure the overall safety of the project, jobsite and personnel in line with company and OSHA standards.
- Mentor and train field personnel.
- Review submittals and generate RFIs (Requests for Information) for accuracy and in compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Collaborate with the project team to manage quality control programs.
- Prepare work plans and develop temporary facilities for the project.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of commercial construction (general construction, historical restoration, or industrial/manufacturing)
- Proven skills in concrete, masonry, carpentry, site work or similar trades.
- Able to read drawings and blue prints.
- Able to do site layout and grades.
- Able to manage job schedules.
- Be a creative problem solver.
- Able to identify and proactively address changing needs.
- Able to foster and maintain a team environment.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication (written and verbal).
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Proficiency with construction management software (Procore), cost management software (Timberline, Sage), project scheduling software (Microsoft Project) or similar is preferred.
Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of experience in the construction industry.
- At least five (5) years of experience of progressive supervisory position within the construction industry.
- Current NYS driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Willing and able to become OSHA 30 and CPR trained upon hire.
- Able to enter Federal job-site locations.
- Pass background check.
- HS diploma or GED required.
Job Site Locations:
Construction job sites are located throughout NYS (with rare exceptions). Job sites are regularly within 1 hour of Albany, NY and occasionally more than 90 minutes from Albany. When job sites are located more than 90 minutes from Albany, NY, superintendents stay overnight near the job site during the work week.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms; stand; walk; climb stairs/ladders or to balance; especially to navigate active construction sites and occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly works on-site at construction job-sites is exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment; uneven terrain; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, airborne particles, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
