Role Description
Background: The client Library is undertaking a critical migration from its legacy integrated library system (ILS) to a new library services platform (LSP), the Alma/Prima software from Ex Libris. This migration will involve Research Library staff at the client, as well as library colleagues at other client locations throughout the client. The client and other client branches' library staff will be merging their separate library ILSs, currently in Sierra, from Innovative Interfaces Inc., into a shared instance of the Alma LSP.
Scope:
The client requires one or more Metadata Librarian Consultant(s) to support the migration process to ensure the successful transfer and enhancement of metadata for optimal discoverability and access of digital and physical collections.
Specific Tasks
Metadata Evaluation and Migration Planning.
Collaborate with the LSP vendor and client Research Library Metadata Technology and Access (MeTA) Team to assess existing metadata records and develop a comprehensive migration plan.
Identify potential challenges and propose solutions for seamless metadata transfer.
Work with client LSP Transition Team, including their Project Manager, to plan for integration of client Research Library records with those of the client Law Library and other client libraries.
Interface with the LSP vendor, along with MeTA Team, on planning.
Qualifications
- Experience and skills in Library Services and Library Science
- Proficiency in Metadata management
- Knowledge in Library Management and Library Instruction
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with library management systems is a plus
- Master's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
