Custodian- 3rd Shift

Viterbo University is seeking a 3rd- Shift Custodian who is an eager and service-focused individual to work independently and with a team to ensure the standards of cleanliness on the campus. The Custodian position keeps the premises of campus buildings, which includes residence halls, apartments, theatres, academic, and athletic buildings in clean and orderly condition. This is a fulltime, 12-month, nonexempt, benefits eligible position. The schedule for this position is Sunday-Friday 11:00PM-7:30AM during the academic year and Monday- Friday 7AM-3PM during the summer.

Responsibilities:

• Including, but not limited to, cleaning and maintaining classrooms, offices, hallways, lobbies, lounges, theatres, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, gym facilities, locker rooms, and other assigned areas.
• Sweep, scrub, wash, and burnish floors.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpeted areas and upholstered furniture.
• Dust and clean office furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
• Clean walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels, and window sills.
• Empty wastebaskets and remove trash and recyclable materials.
• Transport trash and waste to designated disposal areas.
• Replenish restroom and custodial supplies as needed.
• Move office, residence hall, and classroom furniture as needed.
• Unlock, secure, and monitor designated doors and buildings.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Custodial Services Supervisor.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), along with at least three months of related experience and/or training.

Skills:

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group settings with co-workers, supervisors, and other university employees.
• Basic computer skills, including the ability to read and respond to emails.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Ability to follow established procedures to maintain cleanliness standards
