About the Role
Vista Care is seeking a dedicated Shared Living Area Director to oversee the management and operations of services, personnel, physical locations, and financial goals withinThe Eastern part of South Dakota. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services while maintaining compliance with Vista Care’s mission, vision, values, and all applicable policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities

Quality & Program Management: Ensure the delivery of high-quality services, oversee Individual Service Plans (ISP), monitor program quality, and lead corrective actions when necessary.

Financial Oversight: Manage operational budgets, ensure programs meet financial targets, and analyze fiscal needs. Oversee accounts receivable and ensure proper management of person-served finances.

Personnel Leadership: Supervise direct reports (including hiring, orientation, and performance evaluation) Develop and implement comprehensive training programs.

Compliance & Property Management: Manage Vista Care-owned or leased properties, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and coordinate program audits and surveys.

Professional Leadership: Represent Vista Care professionally, work cooperatively with the leadership team, and participate in local and statewide committees.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED required; college/university degree in Social Services or a similar field is preferred.

Experience: 5–7 years of experience in a related field preferred. At least 2 years of experience in Shared Living residential services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) is strongly preferred.

Skills: Demonstrated management and leadership experience, strong decision-making skills, and effective written and oral communication.

Requirements: Must be 18 years of age. Must hold a valid driver’s license and maintain required personal liability insurance, as frequent travel within the state is required. CPR certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, perform transfers of individuals weighing up to 250 lbs (using appropriate techniques), and remain alert during shifts.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, exempt position requiring flexibility to support operational needs, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The role includes on-call responsibilities for assigned programs and direct reports.
