Shift: Days | On-call: 1 night/week & :every 6th weekend
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Guaranteed Hours | Every Other Weekend Required
Setting: CVOR - 9 ORs | Average Case Volume: 25/day
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a highly skilled Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technician to support our partner's high-acuity surgical team in Saint Louis, MO. This role is ideal for a Surgical Technologist with extensive experience in open heart surgery, including CABG, valve replacement, DaVinci thoracoscopies, and VAD procedures. The CVOR Tech plays a vital role in the operating suite, ensuring sterile technique, supporting surgical teams, and contributing to exceptional patient outcomes.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare, maintain, and ensure the sterile field for open heart surgeries, including valve replacements, TAVR, lung resections, and CABG procedures.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses throughout cardiovascular surgical cases.
Adhere strictly to safety protocols including laser, radiation, and sharps safety, as well as Universal Protocol (Time Out).
Manage surgical instruments and handle/label specimens with precision.
Provide on-call coverage one night per week and every sixth weekend.
Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular OR experience, including ability to scrub open heart procedures independently.
BLS certification (American Heart Association).
NBSTSA certification preferred.
Experience in Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG), valve replacement, and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) surgeries.
Strong understanding of aseptic technique, sterilization, and disinfection processes.
Familiarity with Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR), TAVR, and minimally invasive thoracoscopic cardiac surgery.
Prior experience with robotic-assisted cardiac procedures (e.g., DaVinci).
Background in trauma or teaching hospital settings is a plus.
9 modern ORs in a Short Term Acute Care setting with a 285-bed capacity.
Scrubs provided by the facility.
