Project Manager - Construction
Our client is a leading developer, financier, and operator of distributed utility-scale solar, energy storage, and solar-plus-storage assets serving commercial, industrial, municipal, and utility customers across the United States. With more than 125 renewable energy projects and over 600 MW of distributed generating capacity in operation or under construction, they continue to drive significant investment and growth in the U.S. clean energy sector.
We are seeking a Construction Project Manager to support the successful delivery of solar PV and energy storage projects from site assessment through commissioning and turnover to operations. This role requires strong technical expertise, contract and budget management experience, and a comprehensive understanding of renewable-energy construction.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct site assessments, evaluate constructability, analyze system capacity and production expectations, and review interconnection options.
• Assess project opportunities, risks, and mitigations in collaboration with the Development team.
• Prepare detailed RFPs and manage the full contractor bid process.
• Prepare, negotiate, and manage design, procurement, and construction contracts.
• Lead projects from initiation through commercial operation and hand off fully documented projects to Asset Management and Operations.
• Manage and uphold quality-assurance practices, directly or through Owner’s Representatives.
• Review electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural designs, reports, calculations, and surveys.
• Review environmental and land-use permits, reports, and surveys.
• Develop and manage project budgets and schedules; provide concise status updates to senior management.
• Oversee inspections, testing, and commissioning to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and performance standards.
Experience and Education Requirements
• BA/BS in engineering (electrical or mechanical preferred).
• NABCEP or comparable solar PV certification preferred.
• Minimum six years of relevant project execution experience, including at least four years in commercial or utility-scale solar PV.
• Experience managing project budgets of at least $5MM.
• Working knowledge of three-phase electrical systems and the National Electrical Code.
• Preferred experience with medium-voltage systems and equipment.
• Familiarity with environmental and land-use permitting requirements.
• Ability to negotiate engineering, procurement, and construction contracts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• Ability to travel and to work at heights (including rooftops) as needed.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
