We're constructing one of the largest and most advanced power transformer manufacturing facilities in North America, and we're looking for an exceptional Plant Manager to lead this transformational operation.

Position Summary
Virginia Transformer is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead our new manufacturing facility in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
Prior to assuming responsibility for the Alabama operation, the selected leader will complete an extensive training and onboarding program at our flagship manufacturing facility in Rincon, Georgia, gaining a deep understanding of Virginia Transformer's operations, culture, and manufacturing systems.
Upon full production, this facility is expected to employ approximately 1,200 team members, making it one of the largest manufacturing operations within our organization.
This executive leadership position carries full responsibility for safety, operations, quality, manufacturing, supply chain execution, financial performance, employee engagement, and customer delivery.
This is not a developmental role. We are seeking a proven manufacturing executive with extensive experience leading large-scale industrial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Leadership
- Provide overall leadership for all manufacturing operations.
- Establish a high-performance culture centered on safety, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Lead all functional areas including Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Quality, Human Resources, EHS, and Operations Support.
- Build and develop the leadership team required to support rapid organizational growth.
Startup & Growth
- Partner with executive leadership during facility startup and operational ramp-up.
- Recruit, develop, and retain leadership and hourly employees.
- Establish operational systems, KPIs, reporting structures, and manufacturing processes.
- Successfully transition the facility into a world-class manufacturing operation.
Operational Excellence
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, throughput, cost, quality, and delivery.
- Ensure operational performance meets customer expectations and business objectives.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and best-in-class operational disciplines.
Financial Leadership
- Own plant financial performance, including operating budgets, labor productivity, capital expenditures, and manufacturing costs.
- Drive improvements in efficiency while maintaining world-class safety and quality.
Safety & Quality
- Foster an uncompromising safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and all company policies.
- Maintain the highest standards of product quality and customer satisfaction.
Leadership Development
- Develop future manufacturing leaders through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Promote employee engagement and accountability throughout the organization.
Customer Focus
- Partner with Engineering, Sales, and Supply Chain to ensure exceptional customer service, on-time delivery, and manufacturing responsiveness.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 10 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
- Previous Plant Manager or Senior Operations leadership experience within a large manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading manufacturing facilities with more than 500 employees is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success scaling manufacturing operations during periods of significant growth.
- Strong financial and operational business acumen.
- Experience leading cross-functional leadership teams.
Preferred
- Heavy industrial, electrical equipment, power systems, transformer, metals, steel, automotive, aerospace, or other complex manufacturing experience.
- Experience supporting greenfield startup or major facility expansions.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence leadership experience.
- Experience implementing manufacturing systems and driving cultural transformation.
