Human Resources Analyst
Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $51,400 - $63,000
Starting Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience
The State Corporation Commission’s (SCC) Division of Human Resources (HR) seeks an Analyst interested in a rewarding public service career to grow and refine their HR proficiencies. Joining a high performing team of HR professionals that support nearly 800 employees, the HR Analyst analyzes and maintains job classifications, conducts position audits and compensation reviews, provides classification and compensation recommendations, and participates in special projects.
Essential functions of the HR Analyst include, but are not limited to:
- performing position audits to determine appropriate classification, documenting findings, and recommending appropriate classifications
- drafting new class specifications, updating the SCC Class Specifications repository, and analyzing and maintaining class specifications and job descriptions
- reviewing a variety of HR requests, providing analysis and recommendations, working with division employees and leaders to obtain appropriate paperwork and supporting justification, and submitting requests for approval
- finalizing and sending approved payroll transactions to appropriate HR staff for processing
- conducting research studies and special projects in classification, compensation, and policy
- collecting, compiling, analyzing, and reporting on data and metrics to support decisions; using data to identify trends, patterns, and inconsistencies to make recommendations; developing and maintaining HR reports and dashboards
- assisting with employee file audits to ensure appropriate paperwork and approvals are included
- performing related work as required
The HR Analyst position offers a hybrid work schedule (some in-office and telework days each week) as well as a variety of professional development and training opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, professional experience in human resources, classification, compensation, and/or analytics is required
- Some knowledge of compensation theory and practice
- Some knowledge of the fundamental principles and methods used in the collection, analysis, and presentation of statistical and economic data, to include the use of data analytics software (e.g. Microsoft Power BI)
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
- Statistical skills to analyze and interpret data sets and provide meaningful insights
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively convey complex and difficult information and ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work effectively across all divisions of the SCC with all levels of employee with a customer-focused and collaborative approach
- Ability to manage and prioritize a workload, taking the initiative to get things done proactively
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data to develop logical conclusions and make sound recommendations
- Eager to learn with an inquisitive nature
