Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance.

Reynolds horticulture program offers classes at nationally recognized Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, Virginia. The program includes access to Lewis Ginter’s gardens, facilities, and plant collections. Together, Reynolds faculty, Lewis Ginter, and other local industry partners have designed and implemented a contemporary and impactful horticulture program to feed the community and workforce needs regionally and beyond. This work will be led, in large part, by a full-time faculty member who will also serve as Program Head.
Key Responsibilities
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Key Responsibilities
- Teach horticulture courses in accordance with college curriculum and standards
- Maintain a faculty teaching load of approximately 15 credit hours per semester
- Provide scheduled student engagement hours and academic advising to students
- Participate in curriculum development and program assessment
- Serve as Program Head, providing leadership for the horticulture program, including planning, coordination, and evaluation
- Fulfill collateral duties and actively participate in college service activities
- Teach across multiple modalities, including in-person, online, and off-campus locations as needed

KSA's/Required Qualifications
- Master’s in Horticulture or related field or a Master’s degree in any field with eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in horticulture or related field.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- A Master’s or Ph.D. in horticulture or related field is highly preferred.
- Considerable working knowledge and proficiency in plant propagation, sustainable agriculture, and landscaping.
- Experience implementing project-based learning and interdisciplinary projects in or outside of the classroom.
- Proven ability to facilitate lab sections and mentor students in lab safety protocols.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development for both face-to-face and distance learning instruction.
- The ability to utilize various teaching strategies to create a student-centered classroom environment.
- Experience utilizing a learning management system to enhance the classroom experience.
- Strong communication skills and experience working effectively with diverse, multicultural and K-12 populations to support inclusion and cultural understanding.
- Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships with industry partners.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and apply for funding opportunities.
- Previous teaching experience in horticulture is highly preferred
