Job Duties
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- On-the-field coaching during practice and competition.
- Recruit student-athletes to be outstanding cadets and outstanding contributors to the sports program.
- Game preparation, formulation and implementation of pre-and post-season conditioning programs.
- Knowledge of and proper execution of VMI, Conference, and NCAA rules.
- Direct and coordinate the planning, organizing, and coaching of the VMI Baseball Team.
- Provide leadership and instruction in terms of the personal and athletic development of cadet athletes at VMI.
- Must be able to study, evaluate and implement innovations in baseball strategy, and demonstrate professional integrity.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of academic rules for eligibility.
- Knowledge of and adherence to safe practices associated with coaching the sport.
- Effective interpersonal and communication (oral, written, listening) skills.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, sound judgement, and discretion in all areas of work.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, required.
- Must have a baseball coaching experience.
- Must possess the ability to recruit in Virginia and the surrounding states.
Additional Considerations
Prefer experience coaching collegiate age or younger elite level athletes in baseball.
